Team Charlie’s Dinosaur takes the Plunge for Special Olympics

On Saturday February 25th, at Owens Beach in Tacoma, Washington, the first annual Special Olympic’s Polar Bear Plunge was held.  The Event raised more than 75,000.00 dollars for Special Olympics, and “Team Charlie’s Dinosaur” was there.  A hearty group of about 30 “Team Charlie’s Dinosaur” Tee-shirted supporters, representing the largest non-commercial group, braved 40 degree waters to raise funds for Special Olympics.

Judy and I where there but alas…… no we didn’t plunge.    If you look at the first picture you will notice the Coca-Cola Polar bear to the far right, he also did not take the Polar Bear Plunge.  Check out the nifty “Team Charlie’s Dinosaur” Tee shirts.  “Team Charlie’s Dinosaur” was accepting the award for largest non-commercial group.

Can you spot any of the “Team Charlie’s Dinosaur” people?  They plunged in groups so that Pierce County Sheriff Divers could ensure everyone got out safely.

Ed Troyer, the head of the Puget Sound CrimeStoppers, who sponsor “Charlie’s Dinosaur” was a bit cold after his plunge.  Ed and “Team Charlie’s Dinosaur” raised over $1000.00 dollars in pledges, so he took the plunge in full uniform.

I of course had to add at least Moral Support.

We are very grateful that “Team Charlie’s Dinosaur” was able to support this worthy cause.   I may even get wet next year……(don’t hold your breath on that one)….. Who looks warmer and more comfortable,  Ed or Me…….
